Hello and welcome to the live coverage of the 4th and final test of the Border Gavaskar Series 2023. The action shifts to the majestic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, with India needing a win to seal a place in the World Test Championship Final. The Men in Blue have won 15 consecutive home series and will look to make it 16 after this test. The Prime Ministers of both nations are also in attendance for the first day.

VENUE REPORT:-

India had won the two Tests played at the venue in 2021 against England, with the spinners picking up 48 wickets. Will we see spin dominating again in this test?

Teams have preferred batting 1st at Ahmedabad with both the tests in 2021 seeing the teams choosing to bat first, and the same trend seems to continue in the Ranji Trophy this season as well with teams choosing to bat first in 4/5 matches.

Pitch Report, Matthew Hayden: "The pitch looks different to the one used against England. It looks well rolled, there is an even covering of grass and there are a few dry patches on the surface. Looks slightly damp as well in the morning. The spinners have loved to operate in these conditions and there will be plenty of wickets in it for the spinners."

Steve Smith calls right at the toss and Australia have elected to bat first.

Steve Smith, Australia Captain: "We are going to bat. Looks like a good wicket. The guys performed well last week and we are playing with the same team."

Rohit Sharma, Indian Captain: "We would have batted first also. Siraj is rested and Shami is back. It's always nice to have some time off. We need to regroup as a team, you can reflect on so many things. Not the surface what we saw in the first three Tests, looks a good pitch, I hope it stays the same for all five days."

A draw was always on the cards after the two sides put up huge first innings totals on the board. Aussies managed to score 480 with the help of tons from Usman Khawaja and Cameron Green while R. Ashwin was the pick of the bowlers accounting for 6 wickets.On the other side India's response was led by King Kohli who amassed 186 and Shubman Gill who made 128. A solid reply of 571 from India meant that the Aussies had the task of surpassing the lead of 91 before setting a target for the home team. Australia in the end managed to bat the entire fifth day scoring 175 and losing just two wickets. Aussies fought bravely but fell short to breach the fortress and win the series against India in India. Team India win the series 2-1 and also Keep the Border Gavaskar Trophy home. The two teams are the best in the World and will compete once again in June for the World Test Championship at the Oval.

Virat Kohli is the Player of the Match

Virat Kohli: "To be honest, the expectations I have from myself as a player matters more to me. I felt I was batting well from the first innings at Nagpur and carried the form in the innings that followed. We focussed on batting for longer durations. I did that to an extent but not to the capability that I have done in the past so I Was a little disappointed with that. Relief from the point of view that I could play the way I wanted to play and get a hundred."

Steve Smith, Australia skipper: "Was a flat track at the back end but the boys had a great time throughout. The hospitality has been amazing in India, the crowd has been amazing as always. We started to play better as the series went on. The madness and errors in one hour in Delhi cost us that game and that was a crucial moment in the series too. The wicket here was too flat for us to force a result with the time remaining. The spinners bowled really well in the series. Todd Murphy and Matt Kuhnemann bowled with composure alongside Natham Lyon, pretty happy to see them do well."

Ravi Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja share the Player of the Series Award!

Ravi Ashwin: "It has been a great journey alongside Ravindra Jadeja. We go back a long way but we wouldn't be the same or lethal enough without the other. We need to recognize that fact, at least I have started recognizing that over the last couple of years. He gives me a lot of freedom to be creative with the ball, full credit to him, I thought he bowled beautifully in the Delhi Test and that's why we are here today in such a position. Jaddu keeps it really simple and that reflects in his performances"

Ravindra Jadeja: " It feels very good bowling with him. He is passing on vital information all the time. What field to have for a batter, how to bowl to a particular batter. About my batting, I missed out on a few occasions this series which I would want to work upon. I will work harder and focus on my batting even more."

Rohit Sharma, India Skipper: "Was a fantastic series overall. A lot of the players were playing this for the first time in their careers. We do understand the importance of this series and the capabilities of the opposition too. A lot of hard work has gone into this in terms of planning and preparations. At different times we have come up with answers to tough situations. We knew how important it was to start the series on a positive note. The Delhi Test, I am very proud of as we were behind in the game and came back. At Indore, it did not go our way. Lot of guys took up the responsibility and bailed us out when the team needed the most. Test Cricket is hard-fought cricket and isn't easy at any point. I am quite satisfied with how the team has done. I know what kind of benchmark I have set for myself. I keep the personal milestones aside, We have got the result of what I wanted from the series. To get the result makes us very happy."

0","2ndProjectedScore":"0","3rdProjectedScore":"0
"T20ProMatchID":"
"GroundUmpire1ID":3,"GroundUmpire2ID":42,"GroundUmpire3ID":32
"HomeTeamColor1":"","HomeTeamColor2":"","AwayTeamColor1":"","AwayTeamColor2":"
2
Australia","timezone1":"Asia/Kolkata
"GroundUmpire1":"Joel Wilson","GroundUmpire2":"Nitin Menon
"1Summary":"109/10 (33.2 Overs)","1FallScore":"109","1FallWickets":"10","1FallOvers":"33.2","1RunRate":"3.27","2Summary":"197/10 (76.3 Overs)","2FallScore":"197","2FallWickets":"10","2FallOvers":"76.3","2RunRate":"2.58","3Summary":"163/10 (60.3 Overs)","3FallScore":"163","3FallWickets":"10","3FallOvers":"60.3","3RunRate":"2.69","4Summary":"78/1 (18.5 Overs)","4FallScore":"78","4FallWickets":"1","4FallOvers":"18.5","4RunRate":"4.14","5Summary":"","5FallScore":"","5FallWickets":"","5FallOvers":"","5RunRate":"","6Summary":"","6FallScore":"","6FallWickets":"","6FallOvers":"","6RunRate":

Hello and welcome to the live commentary of the Third Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy where India and Australia are squaring off against each other at Holkar Cricket Stadium, Indore. India sealed the first two matches comfortably wrapping up the Test matches in just three days. The Australian team will miss their players Pat Cummins, David Warner, Josh Hazelwood, and Ashton Agar for the Test while the team will be led by Steve Smith. This is a must-win game for the visitors to at least take the series to the final Test - where if they win, then the series could be a tie with 2-2. But, will India allow the opposition to get the better of them or will they continue their supreme form? Cameron Green and Mitchel Starc will mostly be back in the action and what will be their playing combination here? Will India change their winning combination or will they continue with the same XI?

VENUE STATS:-

Since 2016, two Tests have been played here and both the times, the teams who have won the toss decided to bat first and the results ended equal with one by batting first and one by bowling first.

So shall we expect the team to win the toss and bat first?

PITCH REPORT:

Murali Karthik and Matthew Hayden: "It is a very good wicket to bat on historically. It has small boundaries and the outfield is lightning fast. This wicket looks similar to the ones we saw in the first two Test matches. We are going to see lots of spin as it is dry. Bat first if you win the toss."

TOSS:-

Rohit wins the toss for the first time in the series and elects to bat first!

Rohit Sharma, Indian Skipper: "We will bat first. It is a pretty good dressing room and morale is high. The guys are confident about their skills which is a good thing moving forward. We have played a lot of cricket here but this one is slightly different. Looks a little dry and you have to adapt your skills and be at it all the time. We have to try and repeat the things we did in the first two Tests. A couple of changes as Gill replaces KL and Umesh gets a chance in place of Shami."

Steve Smith, Australian Skipper: "The surface looks pretty dry, and no surprises to bat first. Hopefully, we can execute our skills early and put the Indian batters under pressure. The guys have had time to rest and get back into preparation and it was most needed. Just stick to our methods for longer periods, we went away from it, especially in the second innings of the last game. We have two changes Starc comes in for Cummins and Cameron Green comes in for Warner."

After two consecutive losses, Australia have made a comeback here by winning the third match of the series by 9 wickets. India for the first time here, won the toss and elected to bat first. The ball was turning well and the spinners were into play straight away. Apart from Kohli, no one scored more than 22 runs in the first innings and India was all out for 109. The spinners took all the wickets with M Kuhnemann grabbing a five-wicket haul. In the second innings, Australia scored 197 runs with U Khawaja scoring 60 with M Labuschagne getting 31. R Jadeja was the highest wicket-taker in the innings with four wickets. India trailed by 84 runs and Pujara's 59 helped the team to get a lead of 75 runs. Lyon recorded one of his best figures of 8/64. With 76 runs to chase, Travis Head (49* off 53) and M Labuschagne (28* off 58) took the team over the line. The next Test is scheduled at Ahmedabad on Mar 9th. Will Australia win and level the series or will the Indians get the better of the opposition on a crucial decider?

Rohit Sharma, Indian Captain: "When you lose a Test match there are a lot of things which didn't go our way. We didn't bat really well in the first innings and we understand how important it is to put runs on the board. Once they got an 80-90 run lead, we had to produce another innings with the bat and we were not able to do that. If we had batted well in the first innings then things would have been different. We need to understand we have to come out and do the job, no matter what the pitches are. One odd game can happen like that and this game was all about that. We want a few guys to stand up and put their hands up to take the team through."

Steve Smith, Australian Captain: "I think that first day, losing the toss and having to bowl first helped us get this result. Our bowlers did really well, especially Kuhnemann. With the bat, Khawaja was really good in the first innings. We had some good partnerships. India bowled really well in the second innings. Pujji played a good knock, but all our bowlers did really well. It was a complete performance in the end. I like captaining in this part of the world. It's good to be in the WTC final but it's just about playing good cricket."

Nathan Lyon is the Player of the Match

Hello and welcome to the live commentary of the second Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy where the big guns India and Australia are clashing against each other at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi. India wrapped up the first Test within two and a half days and claimed victory by an innings and 132 runs. Shreyas Iyer is back in the squad for India and will he replace someone straightaway? For Australia, Mitchell Starc is available, and if he plays who will be kept out to make him play? We have a landmark Alert also where Cheteshwar Pujara is all set to play his 100th Test! Can India turn the result on their way and lead the series or will the Australian team bounce back here? Will the Test go on till the fifth day? There is a lot to answer and let us await an interesting contest!

VENUE STATS:-

A total of 34 Tests has been played here by India at this stadium of which 13 have been won, 15 being drawn and 6 being lost. Since 1988, India has not lost a Test match here and it won't be too much if we say this is the Fortress for India. The Average first innings score here is 342 runs. Since 2011, the teams batting first have won 1 match and the teams bowling first have been victorious twice with the result being ended on a draw once.

PITCH REPORT:

Sanjay Manjrekar and Matthew Hayden: "The pitch looks better than the first Test. It is a two-faced pitch that looks good in the center but changes as you come closer to the stumps, that's where the spinners will be effective. It looks like a Day 3 wicket right now with big cracks already. Though the groundsmen say it is unlikely to break up. It is a very dry wicket, so seamers may come into the play early. Pretty good for batting first on Day one."

TOSS:-

"Tails" call from Pat Cummins and Tails it is! Australia will Bat first!

Pat Cummins, Australian Skipper: "We are going to bat first and want to put runs on the board. The middle pitch looks like there's grass but it is bare at both ends. Plenty of turn there, will be a good Test. Cameron Green and Mitch Starc aren't playing. Travis Head comes in for Renshaw, and Matthew Kuhnemann makes his debut in place of Scott Boland."

Rohit Sharma, Indian Skipper: "We wanted to bat first as well. The pitch is dry. You just have to come out and play good cricket, and that has been the chat in the group. We are all thrilled about Pujara's 100th Test and it isn't easy. We have a change as Shreyas Iyer replaces Suryakumar Yadav."

India wins the second match quite easily by 6 wickets and leads the four-match series 2-0! To begin with the toss, Australia once again won and elected to bat first. M Shami who ended up picking four wickets gave the initial breakthrough with the wicket of Warner after which the Aussie opener U Khawaja scored 81 runs as he stood in the crease till the 46th over. P Handscomb played a lonely knock of 72* runs in 142 balls. The Spinners Ashwin and Jadeja picked three wickets each and the opposition was all out for 263. The Indian team scored 262 runs and were bundled out in the second innings with the tail-end saviour show of Axar Patel (74 off 115)! Nathan Lyon was the highest wicket-taker with five wickets in this innings! When Australia came to bat, they were leading by a run. It was all the Spin show in the third innings with Jadeja accounting for 7 wickets which is his best figure to date. Apart from the double-digit scores of T Head and M Labuschagne, all the others were dismissed for a single-digit score. With 115 runs to chase, India lost a few wickets but it must be said that this is a comfortable win for the Indian boys!

Pat Cummins, Australian Skipper: "I thought 260 was a decent score in the first innings. The guys bounced back well. But India batted well. It was all even, in the innings break. We were ahead of the game but we slipped. We need a review of the shot choice and need to work in the room regarding it. Both games were disappointing but this one hurts more. We were ahead in the game and that doesn't happen often in India."

Rohit Sharma, India Skipper: "Fantastic result for us. The way we came back and finished our job was great. I think the bowlers were fantastic, to take 9 wickets today morning is commendable. And then we finished the job with the bat. We were prepared for them to come out and play shots. Our idea was to not panic and just hit the right areas, waiting for the mistake to happen and that's exactly what happened. Our focus was keeping it tight in the morning, and these guys are the masters of bowling in these conditions. There are a lot of game-changing moments across four innings, but I thought the partnership between Jadeja and Virat and then Axar and Ash was brilliant."

Ravindra Jadeja is the Player of the Match

Ravindra Jadeja: "I was enjoying my bowling. These wickets suited me because the odd ball spins and some stayed low. I knew they would play sweeps and reverse sweeps, so my idea was just to keep it simple and straight to the stumps. I have a chance if they make mistakes."

0","2ndProjectedScore":"0","3rdProjectedScore":"0
"T20ProMatchID":"
"GroundUmpire1ID":42,"GroundUmpire2ID":32,"GroundUmpire3ID":34
"HomeTeamColor1":"","HomeTeamColor2":"","AwayTeamColor1":"","AwayTeamColor2":"
2
Australia","timezone1":"Asia/Kolkata
"GroundUmpire1":"Nitin Menon","GroundUmpire2":"Richard Kettleborough
"1Summary":"177/10 (63.5 Overs)","1FallScore":"177","1FallWickets":"10","1FallOvers":"63.5","1RunRate":"2.77","2Summary":"400/10 (139.3 Overs)","2FallScore":"400","2FallWickets":"10","2FallOvers":"139.3","2RunRate":"2.87","3Summary":"91/10 (32.3 Overs)","3FallScore":"91","3FallWickets":"10","3FallOvers":"32.3","3RunRate":"2.8","4Summary":"","4FallScore":"","4FallWickets":"","4FallOvers":"","4RunRate":"","5Summary":"","5FallScore":"","5FallWickets":"","5FallOvers":"","5RunRate":"","6Summary":"","6FallScore":"","6FallWickets":"","6FallOvers":"","6RunRate":

Hello and welcome to the live commentary of the curtain raiser of the mightiest Border-Gavaskar Trophy which is played between the big guns India and Australia The Indian players are back in the whites for the red ball action for the next one month as the series comprises four Tests. There are many factors that make the clash epic but more importantly, the result of the series is vital for the teams to get into the final of the World Test Championship. There are many matchups to lookup for and it would be interesting to see who gets the better of against each other. What will be the first playing XI? Will India go with three spinners? Who will keep wickets for the match? Can India spin their way to victory or will the visitors open the series with a lead here? There is a lot to answer!

HEAD TO HEAD:-

The Indian team has an edge over the opposition with nine victories in 15 series. The home soil record for India hugely tilts towards the hosts with seven triumphs and Australia has only won one series in 2004.

VENUE STATS:-

In six Tests played at Nagpur, the teams batting first have won three matches and the teams which bowl first have won twice. The average first innings score at the venue is 324 runs.

PITCH REPORT:-

Sanjay Manjrekar and Matthew Hayden: "The soil looks pretty rough. There are cracks as well, and they may stay intact. But the real talking point is the rough area. left-hander against the left-arm spinner, it's going to be a nightmare for them because there is tremendous potential for the left-arm spinner. Check out the tone difference between here on a hard length for fast bowlers and on this danger area the spinning zone. You've got rough, you've got shaved grass, and it's ironic that the roller and the grass that was being cut here was just shavings of dust because it's going to be a turner."

TOSS:-

Pat Cummins calls right and Australia will Bat first!

Pat Cummins, Australian Captain: "We will bat first. Looks like an even wicket in the middle. The preparation went really well in Bangalore. Can't wait. Two changes for us from the last game we played in Sydney. Todd Murphy debuts in place of Ashton Agar and Peter Handscomb comes in place of Travis Head."

Rohit Sharma, Indian Captain: "We would have batted too but hope we could restrict them as low as possible. Looks pretty dry and there will be help for spinners. We got to wait and see how much it does. We saw some seam movement for the pacers up front yesterday. We have had a good prep for the last 5-6 days. This is a big one. We know the importance of the series but we also understand it's about winning one session at a time. We have three spinners, and two-seamers with Bharat and Suryakumar Yadav making their debut."

India takes a 1-0 lead in the series after an innings victory here in the first test at Nagpur by 132 runs. After opting to bat first, Australia lost both their openers early in the first session to the Indian seamers and then Jadeja starred with the ball, picking up 5 wickets in his comeback, helping India restrict Australia to 177 inside the first day - the visitors lowest total in the 1st innings since 2020. On the second day, Rohit Sharma led from the front and scored a hard-fought century, becoming the first Indian captain to score a century in all the formats, after which 50s from Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel helped India take a huge 1st innings lead of 223 runs. Ashwin took center stage in the 2nd innings, picking up his 31st 5-wkt haul in Tests, bowling out Australia for 91, helping India inch one step closer to the coveted WTC Final. Join us on Friday 17th Feb for the second test of the series!

Pat Cummins, Australia skipper: "The game moves pretty quickly here in India. The Indian spinners are always going to be hard work when it's spinning and Rohit played very well. The wicket spun in the first innings but it wasn't unplayable. We were 100 runs short. Starting here is tough but 3-4 of our guys got in. When you do get in, you got to score big scores."

Rohit Sharma, India Skipper: "Very important to start the series with a win. Happy that I could put the performance for the team, happy to be back. Since I was appointed Test captain, had played just two Tests and was ready for this one. In the last few years, with the kind of pitches we are playing in India, you need to have application and some sort of plan to score runs. I've grown up playing a lot in Mumbai on surfaces that turn a lot. Need to put pressure on bowlers as well by doing something different. We know we have quality in our spin department. But the seamers can be threatening as well on a pitch like that."

Ravindra Jadeja is the Player of the Match

Ravindra Jadeja: "Feels amazing, when you come back after five months and give your 100 percent, scoring runs and taking wickets. Was working hard at the NCA and would like to thank the NCA staff, and physios. They have been working hard with me, even on Sundays. Ball was spinning, going straight, keeping low and I kept telling myself to bowl at the stumps. I look to keep things simple and try not to change things with my batting."

0","2ndProjectedScore":"0","3rdProjectedScore":"0"}]});
