Hello and welcome to the Live commentary of the Semi-Final game of the ICC T20 Women's World Cup, 2023 between India and Australia. The two teams head into the game with a win in their previous encounters. Women in Blue have won three out of their four group encounters while Team from Australia has won all their four group stage games. Smriti Mandhana has been the top performer with the bat for India with 149 runs at a staggering average of 49.67 whereas Allysa Healy has been in good form scoring 146 runs at an average of 73. Looking at the bowling side of things, Renuka Thakur has been lethal with the new ball and has provided the start that Team India will look forward to in this vital semi-final encounter against a formidable Australian line-up. Although Australia is a favorite heading into the match, India possesses all the goods to create an upset at a stage where it matters the most. One can expect a cracker of a contest at Newlands, Cape town between two sides which has some exciting talent in the line-up.

HEAD TO HEAD:-

India and Australia have clashed 30 times in which Team Australia has 22 games to their credit while Women in Blue have registered 7 victories!

PITCH REPORT:

Ian Bishop: "It looks like a fresh pitch and the dimensions seem short on one side of the ground. The same pitch will be used for tomorrow as well for the other semi-finals. It's a nice, healthy green patch and it's in the line of middle and off-stump. The batters would look to target the shorter boundaries and use it to their advantage."

TOSS:-

Australia won the toss and elected to bat first!

Meg Lanning, Australia Captian: "We are gonna have a bat. Looks a pretty good wicket, As usual we get out here and see what it is doing and adjust accordingly.

Conditions are really good so get out there and have some fun. Jess Jonassen comes in for Alana King and Alyssa Healy is back for Annabel Sutherland".

Harmanpreet Kaur, India Skipper: "Pooja Vastrakar is unwell and misses out, so Sneh Rana is replacing her and in place of Rajeshwari Gayakwad Radha Yadav comes in. Another change is that Yastika comes in for Devika. I was unwell but feeling better now. One thing that we have been discussing throughout the tournament that we have to bat well that's why we added one more batter. "

A contest worthy of being a semi-final. Australia elected to bat first after winning the toss. Beth Mooney 54 of 37 and Meg Lanning 49 of 34 balls were the top scorers for the Aussies. A quick-fire 31 of just 18 balls helped the Aussies reach a competitive total of 172. Deepti Sharma was the most economical of the Indian bowlers conceding 7.50 r.p.o. In response, India did not get the desired start but Jemimah Rodrigues and Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur stitched together a 69-run partnership of 41 balls to get India back on track. Kaur made 52 of 34 balls before getting run out in the most unlucky manner after which the tide turned in Australia's favor. India was cruising on at a point in time but the spell from Darcie Brown that got the wicket of Jemimah Rodrigues proved to be crucial in the end. The fast bowler bowled four overs conceding just 18 runs and accounted for three dismissals. Heartbreak for India but one has to give it to the fighting spirit of the Women in blue who put up an inspiring performance losing by a very narrow margin of five runs.

Ashleigh Gardener is the Player of the Match

Ashleigh Gardener: "Just shows the way we play and fight as a team, and that's what we kind of spoke about in the team huddle right at the end. We probably weren't in a winning position and that's when this team does best. When our backs are up against the wall, we find a way and we scrap really hard and that's what we did today with the ball."

Meg Lanning, Australia Captian: "One of the best wins I have been involved in. To fight back from well behind and win despite not playing our best cricket. Great fighting spirit from the girls, couldn't be more proud of them. India came hard at us and they have got some incredible players. Came right down to the wire and we had to seize those clutch moments which is exactly what we did. Found a way out when the situation was not in our favour".

Harmanpreet Kaur, India Skipper: "Can't be unluckier than this, to get that momentum back when I and Jemimah were batting. And to lose after that partnership was totally unexpected. The way I got runout, can't be unluckier than that. Putting in the effort was more important. We discussed fighting till the last ball butThe result didn't go our way. I am happy with the way we played in this tournament. "

167","2ndProjectedScore":"0","3rdProjectedScore":"0
"T20ProMatchID":"
"GroundUmpire1ID":494,"GroundUmpire2ID":471,"GroundUmpire3ID":498
"HomeTeamColor1":"","HomeTeamColor2":"","AwayTeamColor1":"","AwayTeamColor2":"
115
Ireland (Women)","timezone1":"Asia/Kolkata
"GroundUmpire1":"Anna Harris","GroundUmpire2":"Kim Cotton
"1Summary":"155/6 (20.0 Overs)","1FallScore":"155","1FallWickets":"6","1FallOvers":"20.0","1RunRate":"7.75","2Summary":"54/2 (8.2 Overs)","2FallScore":"54","2FallWickets":"2","2FallOvers":"8.2","2RunRate":"6.48","3Summary":"","3FallScore":"","3FallWickets":"","3FallOvers":"","3RunRate":"","4Summary":"","4FallScore":"","4FallWickets":"","4FallOvers":"","4RunRate":"","5Summary":"","5FallScore":"","5FallWickets":"","5FallOvers":"","5RunRate":"","6Summary":"","6FallScore":"","6FallWickets":"","6FallOvers":"","6RunRate":

Hello and a welcome to the final league stage match of the Indian campaign in the ICC T20 World Cup where they square off against Ireland at St George's Park, Gqeberha. India won their first two fixtures and suffered their first loss against England lastly at this same stadium whereas their opponents Ireland have not won a match in this World Cup. If India gains a victory here, they will qualify directly to the Semi-Finals or India should keep an eye on the Net Run Rates of the other teams. Can India seal their spot today or will Ireland be the party spoilers?

India and Ireland have clashed against each other only once in 2018 and India registered a comfortable 52-run victory!

Harmanpreet Kaur, Indian Captain: "We will bat first. Looks a hard and dry surface. Many of us haven't got that many runs, we need to express ourselves. Radha is unfortunately not well and Devika Vaidya replaces her. It means a lot (To become the first Indian player to play 150th WT20I match). Thanks to BCCI and ICC, we are able to play so many games."

Laura Delany, Ireland Captian: "We have to put in our best performance and need to stick to the process. The pressure is on India. The players have shown what they are capable and the energy is good in the camp. We have a change - Georgina is in for Maguire."

With the rain being the spoilsport today, the Indian team has won the match by 5 wickets by DLS Method!! India also qualifies for the semi-final of the ICC T20 World Cup and this is their third consecutive entry into the semis! The team would step into the knockouts with a positive momentum here as there were a lot of positives today. Smriti Mandhana got her highest WT20I score of 87 runs and received the player of the match award!! Let us all tune in for the semi-final on Thursday where India squares off against Australia!!

Smriti Mandhana: "One of the toughest innings I would have played in terms of the pace at what they were bowling at this pitch. It got worse with the wind. Real hard work for the first 30 balls, I thought I had forgotten how to bat. Once you start middling, you'll start hitting well. It's good to score a few runs and go into the Semifinals. The team is also looking really well."

Laura Delany, Ireland captain: "Rain came out of nowhere. We were preparing for wind and we just tried to build a partnership but it got our way. We want to improve on our fielding, it has overall been a very positive experience."

Harmanpreet Kaur, India captain: "It was a good game for us. Smriti got runs, which is very important for us. Just wanted to go up and spend some time in the middle, since I haven't really got that so went up at number 3. Means a lot to get into the semis and we will give our hundred percent. India falls short by 11 runs in their third group game against England in the ICC Women's T20 WC 2023. After winning the toss and opting to field, India got off to the perfect start with the ball, picking up three wickets inside the Powerplay courtesy of some brilliant new ball bowling from Renuka, who later went on to register her maiden 5-wicket haul in International cricket, and a fighting half-century from Nat Sciver-Brunt ensured that England put on 151 on the board. In the chase, Smriti Mandhana got India off to a flyer in the Powerplay and registered her 7th half-century against England in WT20I, but a clinical performance from the English spinners helped them defend their target. India are back in action in just two days at the same venue against Ireland for their last group game. Follow us then!

Harmanpreet Kaur, India skipper: "We started really well but in the middle overs we didn't bowl according to plan and gave away too many runs and lost the momentum. We were doing well with the bat but didn't get the run rate that we were looking for and that's why we lost wickets. Whenever Renuka's bowling we are looking for wickets and she's someone who enjoys her spell, good to see her doing so well. We did well in patches but there are some areas we need to work on."

Heather Knight, England skipper: "We talk a lot about trying to fit our mindset to the conditions and that partnership between myself and Nat was the key. Nat steadied the innings really well and then Amy was outstanding. It shows our batting depth, and even after losing three wickets, we can put up a good score. Renuka was outstanding and was nipping the ball both ways, but keeping a positive mindset helps to manipulate the field. We haven't played against a big team recently and to go out and play like that was really good. Our ground fielding was outstanding and the best so far. We dropped a couple of catches but that can happen in these big games."

Nat Sciver-Brunt is the Player of the Match

Hello and a warm welcome to the second fixture of the Indian campaign in the ICC T20 World Cup where they lock horns with West Indies at Newlands, Cape Town. India kicked off their crusade with a triumph against its rivals Pakistan whereas their opponents West Indies suffered a loss against England. Both the teams would be well aware of their opponent's strengths and weaknesses as they just faced off against each other a few days back in the Tri-Series where India dominated WI. Who will win here on the biggest stage?

HEAD TO HEAD:-

India and West Indies have clashed against each other 20 times in T20Is and India has won 12 matches with the opposition claiming 8 victories!

Harmanpreet Kaur, India Skipper: "We wanted to bat because last game we chased. Today, the wicket looks better. We have Smriti back who loves to chase and Devika's back on the side. So I think it's quite a balanced side and we are looking forward. It's good for us playing a couple of games recently against them and we know them very well and we want to give our best and continue what we did in the last game."

India wins back-to-back fixtures in the T20 World Cup and are placed top second on the table. India were forced to bowl first by West Indies and the bowlers did a pretty good job! After a loss of a wicket in the second over, the West Indies batters Stafanie Taylor(42 off 40) and Shemaine Campbelle(30 off 36) steadied the ship by partnering for 73 runs. Deepti Sharma was given the ball in the 14th over and provided the breakthrough with these two crucial wickets in that over. The score at the end of the innings was 118 runs. With less target to defend, the West Indian bowlers bowled well and picked two wickets in the powerplay but the usual explosive innings from Shafali Verma(28 off 23) took the team to a decent run rate. After the wicket of Shafali, the Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur(33 off 42) and Richa Ghosh(44* off 32) provided a stand and steered the team to victory by 6 wickets.

Deepti Sharma is the Player of the Match

Deepti Sharma: "I am feeling good. We were able to apply what we discussed in the meeting. I am happy with the achievement of being the first Indian to take 100 T20I wickets. I am focusing on the rest of the games. There was a bit of turn in this surface and I focused on bowling stump to stump."

Shemaine Campbelle, West Indies Vice Captain: "We didn't get enough runs as much as we were hoping. We should have got 150 and that would have been a fighting total. The top three batters have to bat till the end. Ramharack has been bowling pretty good for some time, it was a good spell."

Harmanpreet Kaur, India captain: "It was a great day. We did what we wanted and bowled well. Richa and Deepti have been great to us. Richa is someone who can pull the game for us and we are really happy that she is in that touch. Smriti will be fine but we have added an extra batter for today, Harleen comes in and Shikha Pandey misses out. I think these wickets will help us, we are a very good bowling side. Another India-Pakistan thriller at a T20 World Cup with India clinching victory! The Women in Blue started with momentum and the bowlers kept building pressure, highlighted by a brilliant performance with the ball from Radha Yadav, after which a blistering end to the innings from Ayesha Naseem and Bismah Maroof took Pakistan to 149/4. In the chase, Shafali Verma helped India maximize the Powerplay and swung the momentum initially, after which a half-century from Jemimah Rodrigues and a firepower innings from Richa Ghosh helped India complete the 2nd highest chase at a T20 World Cup and start their campaign with a victory.

Harmanpreet Kaur, India skipper: "It was a good game. Pakistan batted well and Jemi and Richa played really well. Very sensible batting from both of them. All the players are keen to do well for the team, and whoever gets the opportunity they are pushing themselves. It's a good sign for us and a win against Pakistan is always special. The crowd was also fantastic and got good support. We would love to spend some time in the nets and sort out the things we didn't do well today before the West Indies game. It's important to keep doing the right things in the nets too."

Bismah Maroof, Pakistan skipper: "We were in the game all the time, but they played really well. We made mistakes with the ball and will try to be better in the next game. The batters played their roles well. Ayesha was crucial for us with that knock."

Jemimah Rodrigues is the Player of the Match

Jemimah Rodrigues: "This innings is really special to me, I haven’t been getting runs for a while but I’ve stuck to the processes. God is grateful, he takes care of the rest. I want to dedicate this to my parents, they are here at the stadium, and this knock goes out to them. We were going over by over and we knew they would bowl a loose ball so that is what we had to punish. We knew we’d win if we stayed till the end. We’re very happy we’ve won this, momentum is on our side and now we just need to do the simple things correctly and consistently."

157","2ndProjectedScore":"0","3rdProjectedScore":"0
);
