Hello and welcome to the Live commentary of ODI three between INDIA and AUSTRALIA at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Rajkot. The Men in Blue have already won the series ticking all their boxes right before the all-important World Cup. The good news for the side is that Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Kuldeep Yadav return to the side eyeing a whitewash against a competitive Australian Unit which might see their star players like Glenn Maxwell, Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins return to their lineup. Indian side which is now the number one ranked side across all formats would like to create history by registering their first-ever Whitewash against the Aussies in the ODI format. This match will most likely serve as a perfect rehearsal for both sides before the 2023 World Cup.

PITCH REPORT:

TOSS:-

Pat Cummins, Australian Skipper: " We will have a bat. Looks like a good track, not sure how it’ll change in the 100 overs. Good to get game time for everyone, don’t want to go into a World Cup cold. Results haven’t gone our way until now but good day to change that. Different conditions here but we have played a lot over here so no surprises. We’ve made five changes, Starc and Maxwell are back. Tanveer Sangha is making his ODI debut."

Rohit Sharma, Indian Skipper: " Conditions are much better here, the weather looks good. Decent temperature as well, we’re just looking forward to this game. The breaks are more important from a mental perspective than a physical one. Very happy with how we played in the series, almost everything we wanted to do we got it done. Gives us a chance for us to see what we want to do. Looks a bit dry, it’s going to play slightly better under lights, we wanted to chase anyway. Let's see if we can make use of the two new balls. Myself, Virat Kohli, and Kuldeep Yadav are back. From the last game, Ravi Ashwin misses out, and Washington Sundar is in. Ishan Kishan is not well, he’s down with viral fever so he misses out."

Powerplay (1-10 Overs) :-

Australia- 90/1 (9.0 rpo, 11x4, 5x6) || India- 72/0 (7.2 rpo, 5x4, 6x6)

Middle Overs (11-40 Overs) :-

Australia- 196/4 (6.5 rpo, 22x4, 3x6) || India- 179/6 (5.9 rpo, 12x4, 4x6)

Death Overs (41-50 Overs) :-

Australia- 66/2 (6.6 rpo, 6x4, 0x6) || India- 35/4 (3.5 rpo, 2x4, 1x6)

Australia ended their losing streak but India clinches the series 2-1. The Australian openers came out all guns blazing after winning the toss and deciding to bat first. Mitchell Marsh and David Warner added 78 runs for the first wicket going at a brisk rate. Thereafter Steven Smith and Mitch Marsh continued on the momentum adding 137 ( 119) for the second wicket taking the game away from the Indian bowlers. Marsh top scored with 96 while Steve Smith and Marnus coming in at no.3 & 4 added 74 & 72 respectively. India had a huge ask ahead of them in order to get past a total of 352 which happens to be the highest total at the venue. Skipper Rohit Sharma took the attack onto the opposition smashing 81 from 57 deliveries but none of the other batters could cope up with the asking rate. Glenn Maxwell getting the key wickets of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Shreyas Iyer was the pick of the bowlers. The all-rounder accounted for 4 wickets conceding just 40 runs from his 10. Australia eventually won the game by 66 runs. The two teams will once again clash in their first World Cup game which will take place on the 8th of October in Chennai.

Pat Cummins, Australia Skipper: " I must say I'm quite happy to bowl in the night than in the heat during the day. Both Maxwell and Starc have not played much, Maxi picking four-fer and Starcy bowling in great rhythm is a good sign. Travis Head won't be fit for the start of the WC. I will be pretty worried about opening the bowling against a pair like Warner & Mitch Marsh. Ashton Agar is back home with a calf injury and Head won't be fit for the next couple of weeks. Happy as it was the first hit where we have had almost a full-strength team."

Glenn Maxwell is the Player of the Match

Glenn Maxwell: "Not too bad, is it? It has been a lot of hard work, to be honest. The South Africa tour was a bit of a setback for us. After the injury got back home and got an injection. I don't have any travel issues, unlike the others. I feel fresh. It's nice to chip in, if Mitch Marsh was there on the field, we would have chopped and changed in the bowling. Since he was not there, had to bowl more. That will be the role of the allrounders in this WC. We are all trying to be as flexible as possible. We have a super flexible list and it's good to get some momentum before the World Cup."

Rohit Sharma, Indian Skipper: " I'm pretty happy of course I would like to go all the way along but if I'm hitting like that I'm pretty happy. In the last 7-to 8 days we have played really well, we have been challenged under different conditions and by different teams, and I thought we responded to that challenge quite well. Unfortunately, not the result we wanted today. About Jasprit Bumrah I'm pretty happy, more importantly how he feels body-wise, he has got so much skill, one bad game can happen to anyone. How he feels mentally and body-wise is key for us and that's looking good for us. When we talk about the 15 we are very clear about what we want. We are not confused, we know where we are headed as a team. It's a team sport and we want everyone to come and play their part, that's how we win championships. It's about looking after the body and trying and stay fresh for the next one and half months."

288","2ndProjectedScore":"0","3rdProjectedScore":"0
"T20ProMatchID":"
"GroundUmpire1ID":221,"GroundUmpire2ID":27,"GroundUmpire3ID":159
"HomeTeamColor1":"","HomeTeamColor2":"","AwayTeamColor1":"","AwayTeamColor2":"
2
Australia","timezone1":"Asia/Kolkata
"GroundUmpire1":"Madanagopal Jayaraman","GroundUmpire2":"Kumar Dharmasena
"1Summary":"399/5 (50.0 Overs)","1FallScore":"399","1FallWickets":"5","1FallOvers":"50.0","1RunRate":"7.98","2Summary":"217/10 (28.2 Overs)","2FallScore":"217","2FallWickets":"10","2FallOvers":"28.2","2RunRate":"7.66","3Summary":"","3FallScore":"","3FallWickets":"","3FallOvers":"","3RunRate":"","4Summary":"","4FallScore":"","4FallWickets":"","4FallOvers":"","4RunRate":"","5Summary":"","5FallScore":"","5FallWickets":"","5FallOvers":"","5RunRate":"","6Summary":"","6FallScore":"","6FallWickets":"","6FallOvers":"","6RunRate":
Hello and welcome to the Live commentary of the second of the three ODI series between and which will take place at the Holkar Stadium in Indore. It was Shubman Gill once again who laid the foundation after India was asked to bat first by the Aussie Skipper Steve Smith. The Prince of Indian Cricket went on to register his fifth ODI ton also being involved in a match-winning partnership of 200 with Shreyas Iyer who himself looked in his elements. Iyer smashed 105 from 90 deliveries hitting 11 fours and 3 maximums. Skipper KL Rahul and Ishan Kishan also contributed with the bat but the finishing touch was provided by Suryakumar Yadav who made 72 from just 37 deliveries dismantling the Aussie bowling attack to pieces. were already on the backfoot as India registered their highest ODI total of 399 and losing 2 wickets on consecutive deliveries of Prasidh Krishna did not make things easy. David Warner did get to a fifty but lacked support from the other end. Indian Spinners especially R Ashwin gave nothing away and also kept chipping in with Wickets at regular intervals. Sean Abbott who came in 8 did strike a few out of the park but could not get the job done. Ashwin and Jaddu picked 3 wickets a piece and summed up the Aussie innings at a deficit of 99 runs (DLS).

Steve Smith, Skipper: " When we came here it looked like a good pitch. Credit to them, Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer batted beautifully and took that game away from us. The way KL Rahul and SKY batted was brilliant to watch. After the rain, it got sticky and it started to spin as well. We have lost quite a few matches in a row, in South Africa and here. We need to sort out a few things, hopefully, we turn it around in the next game. We have a few off days now, we are working towards the WC. Hopefully, we'll turn it around in the third game."

KL Rahul, Skipper: " When I saw the wicket in the morning, I didn't think it would turn so much. Putting 400 on the board gives you immense confidence. It's not really our decision to make. Everyone who gets picked in the eleven needs to focus on their job. Everyone has gone through this, you need to keep getting better and wait for the opportunities. We have dropped a few catches, but fielding under lights is challenging physically. The coaches are doing their best to keep the guys fit. Sometimes these mistakes happen. The commitment is always there and we'll learn from it, brush it off, and get better in the next game. With the World Cup only a couple of weeks away, guys will want to get into it. They need to get used to the challenges, they will be keen to get back on to the field."

Shreyas Iyer is the Player of the Match

Shreyas Iyer: "It was a rollercoaster ride and I am feeling fantastic. My teammates, friends, and family were there to support me. I was seeing the matches on TV, I wanted to be out there and participate in the matches. Grateful to be believing in myself. The pain and niggles kept on coming, but I knew what I was aiming for. Glad that I was able to execute my plans perfectly tonight. Basically, when I went in to bat, I didn't want to complicate things. I wanted to get my eyes set, that's how I give confidence to myself. Historically a good chasing ground, that’s the only reason. There are a few boxes that we need to tick and the boxes that we’ve ticked we need to keep doing it better. Playing Australia is a challenge, best team in the world so good to play against them leading up to the World Cup. They are a very competitive team so we’ve enjoyed playing against them. It's always a great challenge."

Pat Cummins, Australian Skipper: " Good to be back, it's been a while since I’ve been back here. Mitchell Starc and Glenn Maxwell are not quite ready for the game. Would’ve bowled first as well but don’t really mind. It’s nice and sunny out here. Warner and Marsh will open the batting. Smith, Marnus, and Inglis to follow."

Powerplay (1-10 Overs) :-

Australia- 42/1 (4.2 rpo, 6x4, 0x6) || India- 66/0 (6.6 rpo, 8x4, 1x6)

Middle Overs (11-40 Overs) :-

Australia- 145/4 (4.8 rpo, 11x4, 3x6) || India- 157/4 (5.2 rpo, 15x4, 1x6)

Death Overs (41-50 Overs) :-

Australia- 89/5 (8.9 rpo, 9x4, 3x6) || India- 58/1 (6.9 rpo, 4x4, 2x6)

It was a good toss to win and bowl first for KL Rahul and co. as Shami got rid of Marsh in the first over of the innings. The bowlers kept things tight giving nothing away and were successful in drying out the boundaries. Shami delivered whenever the ball was thrown to him, getting the wicket of a set Steve Smith proved to be the turning point in the first innings. The pacer went on to register his best ODI figures getting 5 for just 51. In response to 276, The new opening pair of Gill and Gaikwad played some delightful strokes using all their elegance and class. The duo put together 142 for the first wicket and set the platform for the middle order to follow. Gaikwad accounted for 71 while Gill scored 74 at a strike rate of 117. Australia did come back picking 3 wickets in the middle-over phase but a partnership of 80 between Skipper KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav had India in the driver's seat. India sealed the game in the 49th over with 5 wickets remaining. India is now free of the Mohali Curse as they beat Australia after 27 years at the venue.

Pat Cummins, Skipper: " Personally, happy to come back. A few guys batted well and a few guys bowled well. The guys who are injured will probably not be ready for the second game, maybe the third game. Maxwell has just arrived in India. Smith and Davey were brilliant. Good to see them out there together. We've got one eye on the big tournament, but you want to set the standards early and build a good rhythm."

KL Rahul, Skipper: " I think the intensity in the afternoon was great, after Colombo this felt like heaven in the start but it was really hot and humid. It gets tough and physically challenging, but we've all worked on our fitness and that's showing on the field. We only played five bowlers, so they had to bowl 10 overs. After Shubman Gill got out, it was a bit tricky with the set batter out. But managed to build a good partnership with SKY. We kept talking about hitting good cricket shots, rotating the strike and this is something all our batters are working on. We didn't want to get bogged down, we were always on par so we wanted to take it deep."

Mohammad Shami is the Player of the Match

Mohammad Shami: "It depends on the Skipper and the game situation when he wants you to bowl, but despite the heat, you feel like bowling 4-5 overs at least, with the new ball. I enjoyed the wicket of Mitchell Marsh, that's a different feeling when you get the outside edge when you control your swing nicely early on. It was important to hit the right lengths on this wicket. The bowling attack is good, especially alongside Bumrah We've played together for a long time, so we know what needs to be done. Always enjoy when we bowl well in tandem like this"

288","2ndProjectedScore":"0","3rdProjectedScore":"0
);

Brad Haddin and Sanjay Manjrekar: " Looks like a lush green outfield. With 66m and 67m being the square boundaries 79m hit down the ground. "Beautiful covering of grass and it's very even. It's an even surface which is a lot harder than the previous games. The average first innings score is 311. I think there will be a lot more skid than spin."

Sanjay Manjrekar and Brad Haddin: "Speaking about Dimensions the side boundaries are in the early 60s, that's pretty short. For batters batting behind square, we are getting into the 55-metre zone. We've got a consistent surface. A little bit on the drier side than the last match but quite hard. We will see a very high-scoring encounter. It's going to be tough work for the Pacers. It's a beautiful, even track, we can see a lot of sixes. If you put a big total on the board, your spinners can come into play."

Murali Kartik and Brad Haddin: "Mohali is a high-scoring venue, it’s going to be the same this time around as well. Apart from hitting fours and sixes, it will also be important to find singles and doubles in the deep pockets. The team winning the toss will probably want to bowl first. The wickets seem quite hard, very consistent and a skiddy bounce can be expected. Batters who get their eye in will enjoy batting here."
