A cleansweep for Team India in their final encounter of the Asia Cup, 2022. The new Indian opening pair of Virat Kohli and KL Rahul got the team off to a flyer bringing the 50 up within the powerplay. The duo put up a 119 run stand putting India in the driver's seat from the beginning. The Maestro Virat Kohli got to his 71st International Ton and his first in this format of just 53 balls striking 12 fours and 6 maximums. Afghanistan was a long way from home with a target of 213 set by Team India especially with the swing bowlers in the Indian ranks. Bhuvneshwar Kumar rattled the top order with his lethal swing bowling scalping 5 wickets giving away just 4 runs. The swing master bowled 20 dot balls and thereafter there was no way back for the Afghanistan side as they fell short by 101 runs.

Mohd Nabi, Afghanistan Captain: "It was really tough to play Pakistan the other night, tight game and straightaway next game is against India, totally tough. We weren't mentally prepared for that game. We tried our best to prepare but the boys were not ready mentally. But as a team, we will definitely evolve."

KL Rahul, Indian captain: "The overall result has been disappointing. Ideally we would have wanted to play the final and challenge ourselves. We came into this tournament wanting to play the final and winning the big tournament but it didn't go our way, we take the positives. We have been challenged and it is time to sit back and reflect. Losing is not great but sometimes you have to take it part of the journey, our vision is the World Cup and hopefully the learnings will help us for the World Cup."

Hello and Welcome to the Live Commentary of the Super Four Contest of Asia Cup, 2022 between India and Sri Lanka. The two teams clash at the Dubai International Stadium where the toss is an important factor. Team India ended on the losing side in their previous Super Four encounter against Pakistan while Sri Lanka come into this match on the back of a win against Afghanistan. One of the few positives from the previous game includes the form of Virat Kohli. It seems like the maestro has gotten back to his consistent self and is really striking it well out in the middle. Leg Spinner Ravi Bishnoi impressed everyone with his economical bowling while Arshdeep Singh too bowled well using his wide range of variations. It will be interesting to see whether India makes some changes to the side or goes in with the same playing combination. Althogh, the momentum is with the Lankans, Team India will be the clear favorites in this Asia Cup clash.

HEAD TO HEAD:-

India and Sri Lanka have faced each other in 25 matches in T20I. Out of which, India have won 17 whereas Sri Lanka have come out victorious on 7 occasions

PITCH REPORT:

Ravi Shashtri: "This is the same pitch that was used in the previous played game against Pakistan. It looks a lot whiter and a lot drier. It will play really nicely and will have a lot more for the spinners. Glad to see Ashwin in the side with Sri Lanka having quite a few left-handers in the Lankan line up. This would be a very good pitch for batting too."

TOSS:-

Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to field first!

Dasun Shanaka, Sri Lanka Captain: "We'll bowl first because of the record here. All the last three games have been chased down here. The approach has been outstanding by our batters and we hope to continue the same against Indis. The coaching staff and the players have created the environment for the new players to come in and deliver in pressure situations. We are going in with the same eleven, No changes"

Rohit Sharma, India Captain: "We would have bowled first as well. The pitch doesn't change much and it only gets better to bat on. This gives us an opportunity to come out and play freely. This is how the World Cup would be played as well, and we have to make sure that we don't lose too many games. We need to ensure that we are there from the word go. We have to learn a lot when you are defending a score like that. With the dew, we need to learn the lines, the lengths and the boundaries well. The grass is lesser tonight. It looks drier, and we have one change on the basis of the Sri Lankan team: Ashwin comes in for Bishnoi."

A hard-fought battle at Dubai International Stadium resulted in a Sri Lankan victory. Team India put up a respectable score of 173 on board courtesy of Skipper Rohit Sharma who scored 72 runs off just 41 balls also being involved in a 97 run stand with Suryakumar Yadav. Sri Lankan openers got off to a flying start making 57 in the powerplay but Team India came back in the game picking two wickets in the 12th over which was bowled by Yuzvendra Chahal. The leg spinner finished with 3 wickets giving away 34 runs and was well supported by Ravi Ashwin who scalped one wicket. Sri Lanka did well to hold onto their nerves in this thrilling contest which could have gone either way. Team India will face Afghanistan in their next Super Four game of Asia Cup,2022.

Rohit Sharma, Indian captain: "We just ended up on the wrong side, as simple as that. We could have capitalized on the first half of our innings. We fell 10-15 runs short. The second half wasn't good for us. The guys who were out in the middle can learn about what shots can be played. These things can happen. Losses like these will make us understand what works as a team. With the ball, it was a good effort to take it to the last over considering the start they had. The spinners bowled aggressively and got wickets in the middle overs, but Sri Lanka held their nerve."

Hello and Welcome to the Live Commentary of the second Super Four Match of Asia Cup, 2022 between arch-rivals all-round India and Pakistan. The two teams met a week earlier where India got the better of the opposition winning the game by five wickets. India's bowling spearhead Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled a brilliant spell accounting for four wickets while Hardik Pandya's all round performance took India home in the 20th over of the game. The star all-rounder scalped three crucial wickets and also smashed an unbeaten 33 of 17 balls to seal the game. India will miss the services Ravindra Jadeja who is ruled out for the remainder of the tournament due to a knee injury. Both the teams come to this game after defeating Hong Kong. It will be interesting to see the tactics applied by the Indian Team in absence of a few key players in this epic battle at Dubai International Stadium.

PITCH REPORT:

Sanjay Manjrekar: "I am looking at a pitch you can trust. It's not two-faced like the one we had in Sharjah. The grass is similar on both sides. The groundsmen have put in a little more work and as a result you can see grass coming out of this surface. The grass is slightly drier than when Afghanistan played Sri Lanka. There'll be a lot more carry on this pitch. Any team winning the toss will bowl. Whatever moisture is there, you can get first use of it. We haven't seen any dew as yet. The spinners might get a bit of purchase."

TOSS:-

Babar Azam, Pakistan Captain: "We will bowl first. The dew could be a factor, that's the reason we're bowling first. We had a lot of positives from the last match against India. The message is to play positively - one change for us with Hasnain coming in"

Rohit Sharma, India Captain: "We would have bowled first, but now we need to play freely and assess a good score on this pitch. Momentum counts in this format, you've to be on the money from the start, not worry about external pressures. Injury is something we can't control, Jadeja has been ruled out and he's back home. It was a headache to select the playing XI - Hardik comes back. Deepak Hooda gets a game and so does Ravi Bishnoi."

Team India put up a score of 181 on board after being asked to bat first. Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul got India off to a flying start and later it was the Virat Kohli show that helped India get to an above par score. Kohli scored 60 runs of just 44 balls and stayed in the middle till the last over of the Indian innings. The bowling unit did a good job containing the Pakistan batters to just 44 runs in the powerplay. But the pinch hitter Mohd Nawaz scoring 42 of 20 balls tilted the game in Pakistan's favour while Mohd Rizwan played the sheet anchor role occupying the crease at the other end. Ravi Bishnoi was the pick of the bowlers for India getting the price wicket of Babar Azam and conceding just 26 of his 4 overs. It was a nail-biting finish where Pakistan came out on top winning the game with just one ball to spare.

Rohit Sharma, Indian captain: "It's a high pressure game we know that. You've got to be at it every time. A game like that can take a lot of you. We were calm even when there was a partnership between Rizwan and Nawaz. But that partnership obviously went a little long and they batted brilliantly. Games like this can bring the best out of them if they deliver. We understand the pitch gets slightly better in the second innings. It's good learning for us. I thought it was a good score that we had on board. Any pitch, any conditions when you get 180 it's a good score. We got to learn a lot today about what sort of mindset we need to have when defending a score like that. Like I said you've got to give credit to Pakistan as they've played better than us. But we want to play with an open mindset. While taking that approach you'll not always have success."

Babar Azam, Pakistan Captain: "Our effort is to keep it simple. Ups and downs will keep happening. They got the edge the way they utilised the powerplay. But our bowlers made a comeback. Rizwan and Nawaz partnership was the turning point. I had a hunch Nawaz would be key against legspinners so we promoted him higher up the order."

Mohammad Nawaz: "Want to keep things simple. Basic things like line and length. The effort is to turn one or two deliveries to put doubt in the batter's mind. Legspinners were in operation and there was one short boundary as well. Needed around 10 rpo at that time. I had clarity about going for it if it was in my area. Hello and Welcome to the Live Commentary of the second 'Group A' encounter at Dubai Internation Stadium between India and Hong Kong. The Indian Team enters the contest after a thrilling win against Pakistan. Hardik Pandya's all-round performance took India home by five wickets with one ball to spare. Team India would want to continue their winning momentum before the all-important super-fours round. Hong Kong on the other side would look to make the most of the opportunity of competing in the Asia Cup against the defending champions. The two teams have met on two occasions previously and both the Asia cup encounters have gone in favor of Team India. It will be interesting to see if Captain Rohit Sharma experiments with the lineup to give some game time to the bench strength or go in with the same playing 11.

The last time we played India, it was a good game and we know we did some mistakes and have worked on it. We have the same team we played against UAE."

Rohit Sharma, India Captain: "We were going to bowl first as well. Looks like an even covering of grass and we need to bat well to get to a good score on board. We just want to continue to do what we are doing as a team. We don't want to look at the opposition and play good and hard cricket. We need to do our basics right, which is what got us a victory against Pakistan. One change: Hardik is rested considering how important he is for us in the games coming up, Rishabh Pant comes in."

Team India put up a huge score of 192 after being sent in to bat by Hong Kong. All the top four batters got to a start but an unbeaten 98 run stand between Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav stood out. King Kohli scored his 31st Half Century in this format and finished with a score of 59* of 44 balls. Suryakumar Yadav at the other end played the role of an aggressor smashing 68* runs of just 26 balls. Bhuvneshwar Kumar with the new ball and the Spin duo of Jaddu and Chahal were successful in containing the opposition batters. HK just managed to get to a total of 152 losing the game by 40 runs. Team India finish as Group Toppers and will face the runner-up of Group A in the next encounter of Asia cup, 2022.

Rohit Sharma, Indian captain: "We batted pretty well to start with, got to a very good score. Came out and bowled reasonably well, we could have done slightly better with the ball. Suryakumar Yadav The kind of innings he played today, the words will be short. We have seen that with him every now and then. He comes up with such kinds of knocks. He just comes out and bats fearlessly which is what the team expects from him. Some of the shots he played today, those are not written anywhere in the book. It was very pleasing to watch. Shot selection was also crucial. We know he can play all around the park. We have also informed the group about this as well. Most of the guys are ready to take the opportunity and be ready to bat wherever required. That's the flexibility we need. We'll take those chances. We are going to try and use the right match-ups."

Nizakat Khan, Hong Kong Captain: "The way we started with the ball, until 13th over we were amazing. Our fielding was amazing as well. But we slipped after that. The way Suryakumar batted, it was good to watch. It was a good opportunity for all the boys. We were away for a long time, credit goes to boys and I am really proud of them. We are gonna sit down tomorrow, we'll have a look at our death bowling. We will improve."

Hello and Welcome to the Live Commentary of the first 'Group A' encounter at Dubai Internation Stadium between arch-rivals India and Pakistan. Defending champions India enter the tournament as favorites and would want to start with a win in their tournament opener. India has to date won 7 Asia Cup titles and clearly has an edge over their opponents Pakistan, especially in the shorter formats. The Men in Blue have a superlative record in Asia Cup winning 8 times in all and losing on 5 occasions, whereas 5 out of the 6 games have gone in Team India's favor since 2010. All eyes will be on Virat Kohli who will be playing his 100th T20 game and becomes the first Indian to do so across all formats. It will interesting to see what Team India's playing 11 looks like in this all-important clash.

HEAD TO HEAD:-

Both the teams have clashed 9 times and India is way ahead in the contest with 7 victories and Pakistan is with 2 wins.

VENUE STATS:-

The average first innings score at Dubai International Cricket Stadium is 144 runs. Out of 61 games held at this Venue, 34 have gone in favour of team batting first while 26 have gone to the team batting second.

PITCH REPORT:

Sanjay Manjrekar: "This is a proper turf pitch full of grass. In this match, it's going to be more about bowling rather than batting. It's the same pitch as yesterday. All the grass is in clusters, which means the ball will seam around. It won't be as much as yesterday but there will still be quite a bit for the fast bowlers. No-brainer, the side winning the toss would like to put the opposition in."

TOSS:-

India won the toss and elected to field first!

Rohit Sharma, India Captain: "We are bowling first. I don't think the toss is that important, we are just here to play good cricket. It was a tough call we had to take between playing Dinesh and Rishabh, Rishabh sadly misses out. And Avesh makes it as the third seamer. This is an important game for us, but as cricketers we don't want to think about the side we are playing against, we just want to keep improving as a unit."

Babar Azam, Pakistan Captain: "We would have also bowled first, but this is not in our hands. We will look to put up a big score. Three fast bowlers, two spinners and a debut for Naseem Shah. We are trying to give it our best."

Team India after winning the toss were successful in restricting Pakistan to a total of 147 courtesy of some fantastic bowling from Bhuvneshwar Kumar who picked 4 wickets giving away just 26 runs. While the spinners contained the scoring from one end, it was Hardik Pandya who kept picking wickets at crucial times. Virat Kohli showing signs of form made a well composed 35 to lay down a good foundation after the team lost a few early wickets. Thereafter, a match winning partnership of 52 of just 29 balls between the all-rounders Jadeja and Pandya sealed the game for the side. Hardik Pandya smashed an unbeaten 33 of 17 balls to take the team home with a stupendous six. India will now face Hong-kong in their second encounter of the Asia Cup.

Babar Azam, Pakistan Captain: "We started well with the ball. In the end we were about 10-15 runs short. Bowlers did really well to make a match of this. Our tail also stepped up to add those handy runs. The thought was to take the game deep. Idea was to create pressure but Hardik finished well."

Rohit Sharma, Indian captain: "Halfway through the chase, we still knew that we can win irrespective of the situation and did not panic. We had the belief and when you have that belief, these things can happen. It's about giving clarity to the guys so that they know their roles well. It was a bit challenging but I'll take wins like this anyday over usual victories. Yes, India's pace bowling has come a long way in the last year or so and they have adapted well to different situations. Since the time Hardik has made his comeback, he's been brilliant both with the bat and ball. He is a lot calmer now and more confident about what he wants to do."

Hardik Pandya is the Player of the Match

Hardik Pandya: "In bowling, it's important to assess the situations and use your weapons. For me, bowling short and the hard lengths have been my strengths. It's about using them well and asking the right questions to make the batters commit a mistake. In a chase like this, you always plan over-by-over. I always knew that there is one young bowler and also one left-arm spinner. We only needed 7 off the last over but even if we needed 15, I'd have fancied myself. I know the bowler is under more pressure than me in the 20th over. I try to keep things simple."
